As for the image...well...only in certain cases have i seen it add to someone's attractiveness. Certain people can pull it off - like i have seen a few photos of Robert Downey Jr where he can make it look cool. But generally it just seems stupid and unecessary.

Agreed. I find watching people smoke sad because it is so easy to see how addicted they are. I also hate walking out of a building and breathing in a lung full of smoke thanks to the smokers huddled around the door.
But, at the same time, I see how smoking is iconic. I've longed to lounge around with the Fitzgeralds in a Parisian bar, smoking, drinking, and swearing the nights away.

Seriously, though, I dont know how I could put up with my dad smoking: my mom sometimes tell stories about when she was a little kid in the 60's, and the family would be driving in their car on a long road trip, and their parents would be puffing away at their cigarettes, and my mom and her brother would be practically choking, but they weren't allowed to roll down the car windows because her parents didnt like the cold.
No fun.
And Robert Downey Jr. -- is there anything he can't do and make it look cool?
