WHy would Pete be played by Jennifer Love Hewitt? I am sitting and giggling at your descriptions of William as "part-octopus ho" (he is, isn't he?) and Patrick as "fandom bicycle" here, as well as om buying Seventeen. Oh, boys!

Because Jennifer Love Hewitt=scary-eyed brunette bombshell. I imagine that sometimes, when people write fic, they imagine everyone to be competent and mature, but really, it's way more entertaining for them to be unbalanced and nutty. But, hee, thanks.
