"693" sounds like a high school locker number; maybe the key opens that. Valvardsy must have something up his sleeve, and I don't like his comment about Jack's inexperience. Inexperience at what? Managing a firm? It sounds like a chess game, with Valvardsy plotting out moves three in advance. Perhaps Jack needs to think more on this, even with the distraction of his parents' cryptic notes, and not let his emotional response get in the way of the need for cool calculating thought.
I've read along the whole time, and want to find out what happens with all these threads you have woven into it. And I understand real life interfering with writing. I too write on, put can't spend as much time right now. So, write as you can and keep us "posted". ;)
Good to see anew chapter. Sorry to hear that RL is getting the best of you. The mystery Enrique left seems to be getting deeper instead of the boys getting closer to solving it. I am glad to hear that you plan on finishing this story. So I will wait patiently for the next chapter.

This was a really well done chapter and I loved all the interaction and more plot twist and turns. I think the key and the newspaper clipping are very good and I like how Ennis and Jack are interacting in this chapter. I also like the intrigue of how the rival firm is still looming and ever present as a threat. Joe
oh wow. i had dispared of ever seeing an update. i'm so glad to see this and read of your determination to actually finish this story. never fear, as long as you are writing this story, i will read it.
i thought it a little odd that the key was hidden at the school fountain. it seems that there would be no control over who might have found it and enrique's riddle could have been all for naught. i wonder what if anything is in the whole newspaper that could be a clue and i wonder where the lock is that key unlocks.
i'm glad matilda is feeling better, happy to see that the boys met with their friends for drinks. they need to keep their friends around them.
i didn't like the meeting jack had at the courthouse. it seemed ominous. i wonder what the old coot is thinking. oh and by the way, 60 isn't really that old......grin.....
well, happy to see you back. i guess it's good that your rl is so full, hopefully full of good things. i look forward to your next update.
I was wondering if you're still writing this story - this chapter is a wonderful surprise ! That Valvardsy is a creepy guy, his threats make me shiver ! Jack should take him seriously !! And how does that old guy think that Ennis will come work at his firm after they put him in jail ?! stupid ... Thak you, hope you up-date soon.... er ! ;o)
