There will be more from this universe: I have a prequel to "Principles" currently in progress, and a novella-length sequel in the planning stages. (And I will get to that gift-fic I promised you at some point, even if it takes until next Solstice).

But this was breathtaking. I guess it's a ficlet in length, but it's a key point in Chase's development which I had been missing: how he comes to leave the priesthood and become a doctor. You made it more convincing than canon. It also would explain how come he was willing to risk so much to connect House to Minerva again.
And the Salve Regina... of course I learned it by heart as child. In Italian, but it still starts with Salve Regina. And I remember liking the prayers to Saint Mary - like Chase, I used it as a substitute for a more normal mother, in my case because my mother was verbally abusive. That part really resonated for me.
And I loved the touch of Chase keeping as memento a piece of black fabric (for some reason I imagine it silk).
