This is exactly what needed to happen. You're best with House/Chase mentorship fics, particularly since you write House's (and Chase's, in this case) reluctance so well.

Thank you so much for the compliment. This is one of those fics that wrote itself very easily, and felt like it could fit into the empty space between episodes without effort. Definitely one of my favorite pieces written this season.

Thank you for commenting! And I have no plans to stop writing in this fandom or about these characters in the foreseeable future, so there'll be new pieces in September (or earlier, if I'm hit by sudden inspiration before then).

I wish we'd seen this in canon, instead of having Chase suddenly all better after Cameron walks out. This way makes sense.

Just perfect! I truly believe that you have a rare gift of filling in both the unspoken words and unseen actions of this motley crew beautifully. Your ability to add another dimension to the characters is so commendable. Thank you.

You're very welcome. This is one of my favorite post-episode pieces, because it fit so seamlessly into the gap canon left. And House's relationship with Chase--and vice-versa--is so nuanced that I'll never tire of exploring it. Honestly, it surprises me that so few fic writers focus on the quasi-paternal/filial undertones.)

Personally, I don't think I'm adding dimension to the characters; I see it as illuminating aspects that already exist, but which canon has a tendency to neglect.

Again, thank you so much for your comments! (I'm in the middle of writing up a lesson plan at the moment, so this one is a welcome injection of happiness into the proceedings.)
