Toys 20: Fear of Failure

Dec 23, 2009 10:30

I now remember why I wasn't writing in the Toys universe anymore. I love Spike and Xander in that series, but they really are an old married couple. There isn't drama there, and quite frankly, they don't want drama there. So, this is the Toys universe, but following the drama means that the camera has shifted again to a new bedpairing.

More this soon! A lovely treat.

Angel is obviously having some pretty conflicting thoughts about his role. He sort of knows what's at stake but doesn't really know how to proceed. Of course the fact that he needs to concentrate on several things at the same time, isn't making his life easy.

Happy Holidays!

Sometimes the muse is just tickled with a story. Angel knows that his people need a leader, but he so does not want to be that person. Tough Shit. He's going to have to get with it and realize that he needs to step up to the plate.

Such an interesting universe! I have to go back and read the entire story, since I found myself scratching my head a few times, but overall it's taken some very interesting turns, and I find I don't miss the Spander-centricity.

I really had to go back and reread because this world has not been in my head for a year, and it is just so different from what I'm writing now. I'm glad that you're enjoying it anyway.

Well I did ask how Wesley was going to react and you've answered that in spades! I really like texanfan's comment about balance. It really is the case here. Angel is trying to find the eye at the centre of his own hurricane of conflicting emotions and needs and Wesley is doing the same in his own way. Goodness knows what will happen when Groo arrives and Cordy comes back to herself.

As for Lindsay, he's so far off balance at the moment that I'm getting vertigo just thinking about it.

Very nicely done, hon. Now I have a dilemma because I don't know what verse I want you to update first - Toys, Kin or Butterfly Kisses. Yes I'm greedy, but you know that *g*

This story is awesome and has always been awesome! This particular storyline has been in my head since it was posted. I've never been one to read stories with Lindsey but there is no way I would ever skip a Toys chapter. Now you've got me totally interested in him. So much so that I'm currently re-watching Angel and seeing Lindsey in an entirely new light. He really is tearing himself apart. Angel could have helped him yet he barely seemed to care at all. Later not long before Lindsey leaves he apologises for not being able to help him more and I was watching thinking you didn't really try to help him at all. I found watching it that your description of Lindsey as an addict is rather apt. If only Angel had seen all this in the series. Life for Lindsey would have turned out a hell of a lot differently. Anyway that was my very long way of saying not only was that a very well written chapter with a great storyline, but the last two chapters totally changed my view of the characters and what is a good author if they don't make you think ( ... )
