So I just watched about four of these videos in a row, and I laughed so hard snot came out of my nose (um, I've had a cold lately). Anyway, her series is HILARIOUS! It's so freaking relatable and just REAL. I love it.

I'm absolutely obsessed with it, and I am so glad you started watching it. It seriously only gets better. The only bad part is, once you finish all the eps, it's, like, a month between new episodes.

J's issues are universal. She doesn't know how to stand up for herself at work, she isn't sure how to act at parties, she goes home and writes angry rap lyrics to get out her aggression which she doesn't really share with anyone; for all the shows claiming to depict "real life," Awkward Black Girl is the one which shows the life I live and most of my friends live.

EXACTLY. Like, it's ridiculous how much I relate to even her smallest scruples (e.g. the first time she met CeCe in the hallway and she had that whole dilemma about what to do when passing people in hallways IT'S LIKE SHE TOOK THE QUALMS OUT OF MY OWN HEAD AND POSTED THEM ON YOUTUBE).

uggh I had no idea there was racist wank over her winning that award, sorry to hear it but unfortunately not nearly surprised as I should be tbh :(

The hallway thing is something I do all the time! And when she's at the office party and she doesn't know what to do because she doesn't like these people so she just starts drinking, and it goes horribly wrong? Story of my life.

Yeah, one of the losers of the award started a trending topic "Things Better Than Awkward Black Girl," and it got really disgusting. Her response was a single tweet ("Losers be triiiiippppiiiinnn") followed by "Yo mama". I want to be her friend.

I adore this show!!!! I've gotten so many friends to watch it. I first liked it because J is just a girl that all girls can relate to and black women (or any minority, really) normally don't get that type of role, since there are usually a handful of stereotyped roles for minorities (or there is wank like Rue in hunger games). It makes me laugh out loud so much though and that's why I still love it. It's so refreshing. I love that you included her on this list. :)
