I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I've always found stories/books/movies about war riveting and heartbreaking, so I really wanted to make this the same way, but with more happiness for the OT4.

Thanks for reading! <3

I think you just killed me. This was so beautifully written and I was genuinely hurting for them (and that made me think about what it must have really been like during war and that made me sad). I like the bond the four of them had and that support system. I loved the scene where they were all comforting Dustin after their first trip.

the endddd, I'm so glad you posted that. I genuinely teared up because it was beautiful, especially: “When I’m older, I’m going to make it so that it’s really easy for everyone to talk to each other whenever they want!” he exclaims, nodding determinedly. I liked that you used that.

Great fic! ♥

Thank you so much! The war was probably so tragic, because from what I've read, people really disconnected from their emotions and I just couldn't do that to the boys. They need their love and bond, it's good for their survival! Also, I just really love Chris and Dustin.

And I'm glad you like that ending! I spent a long time writing it and then turned my laptop off for maybe 5 minutes before I turned it back on because I just wasn't sure about that part. When I wrote the part about Eduardo's first letter and Mark wanting it to be easier to contact people, I had originally decided the ending would be the one with little Mark, but I guess it just didn't work in my mind. So I'm really, really happy that you liked it anyway! <3

I'm so glad people are liking the alternate ending, because I had a lot of problems with it, haha.

Is A Very Long Engagement a book/movie? I haven't read/seen it if so, but I'll definitely put it on my list.

If you were talking to me during the course of me writing this fic, you would know that I spent the longest time on the part with Sean because I felt so bad about it.

Thank you very much for reading! <3

A Very Long Engagement (Bingo Crepescule) is a french film set during the aftermath of World War One.

Audrey Tautou's character searches for her fiancee, played by Gaspard Uliel.

It is tragic and beautiful and hideous.

Amazing film.
