USA is having a mini-House marathon, I came in the middle of Cursed and it stunned me how much better the show was back then. Not like that's a new thought, but this is the first time I've watched an old episode since like... I don't even know. Anyway ( Read more... )

THIS POST. THANK YOU. I needed someone to make a post about this. It hurts my soul how much things have changed. Like I miss actually giving a half a shit about the POTW. Now I'm just like Cool Story Bro, idgaf, and I feel like it's the way the show looks at the cases too. Like I can point out really cool situations from the earlier seasons, but in this season? I can just tell you like Oh Masters had an ethical dilemma or Taub didn't give a fuck because his wife was leaving. Do you know what I'm saying. GAH. I kind of miss the patients' lives and how they used to parallel with the doctors. IDK.

It's amazing to read this, because I really was thinking the other day that someone who's way more eloquently in English than me should write up a serious petition to TPTB, preferably DS, asking him nicely to take his own advice seriously. If he claims that people don't change then he at least should stick to a more continuous characterization all over. I get that a lot of what we call characterization is just our own perception of the character we watch and it's the same with the writers. Some will focus on his jerky side, some will focus on his softer side, even show a romantic streak, but overall there shouldn't be so many poignant contradictions in the characterization over the seasons if one really proclaims that people don't change. Oh, my bad. They surely would explain those discrepancies with House's different pain and medication levels, so nevermind but what's their excuse for Cuddy's character changing for the worse?. :(

It's why i don't watch anymore. I felt the magic and true heart of the show fading a while ago. I only watched Mia's episode because i wanted to see her dance and after reading what you posted, I knew you were right. It could have been way better.
I feel the last truely decent episodes were Broken and those came after quite a gap of so-so episodes. I feel when he lost the original team is when it started to fade. And then season 4's finale was stunning and...idk, they got so few and far between and I felt so bad giving up on a show I love so much. But it's not the same anymore and I don't want to grow bitter. I want to keep the love I have for the earlier seasons and the few masterpieces that followed the next two seasons.
