"Is your car driving itself?!"

May 29, 2010 13:10

I took a Benadryl before bed last night because my eyes were all fucked and allergy-like. So I'm sure that was half the cause of my vivid dreams last night. And it was horrible, I dreamt my dad died. I got a call and the doctor just said, "We lost him," because apparently he was driving and his car got hit directly on the side by a huge truck. But ( Read more... )

It's crazy how much of the details of your dreams you actually remember. I wish I had that but I usually don't remember a thing and get these small reminders throughout the day, like little things that happen irl that trigger a flash of a face or a certain atmosphere that lingered in my dream. Every now and then-and this usually happens in the weekends when I wake up early and go to sleep again right away and start to dream-I remember things perfectly but I start to lose details over time until I only have a couple of images stuck in my head. Maybe I should write them down as well, but I'm not sure I can. I'm afraid I'm going to start filling in gaps with things I wish would've happened and that at some point I'm not sure what I actually dreamt and what I made up. WHY AM I WHINING SO MUCH ABOUT THIS?

I'm sorry your dream was awful, bb. There's definitely an up and a downside to vivid dreams. When they're good, they're stunning and beautiful; when they're bad, they're absolutely terrifying. :\

LOL I'm going through my inbox, can you tell.

It's totally like a muscle - I mean, I think I've always paid attention to dreams and remembered them, but I notice I remember them SO much more since I took my Psych class in high school. My teacher loved dreams a lot and taught us how to lucid dream and improve dream memory, so I just put it into practice. A LOT of it is intent - going to bed telling yourself you're going to remember them. Writing about them and studying them also makes you more aware, which is why I like to type them up here a lot. Also it helps if you do it right when you get up.

I'm afraid I'm going to start filling in gaps with things I wish would've happened and that at some point I'm not sure what I actually dreamt and what I made up.
This is a valid point. BUT, I think you'd still be able to gain something from looking at even stuff you'd choose to make up, you know? WHY would you have that happen, why'd you fill it in with THIS? I feel like that'd give you insight into yourself, too. Either way.

The part about your dad dieing and you hallucinating that he's still there is freaky. :(

I LOVE your dream about Hugh and Lisa, though. I find it funny that you now dreamed about an award show, too! I'll freak out if we'll actually get a scene like the one you dreamed about in S7.

OMG, I had a dream my mom told me she had cancer. And all i could think about was how the hell my sister was going to take it. Somehow I knew I was the first person my mom was telling. It was horrible. Must have been a night for bad dreams.

I love the car metaphor for Life. So true.

Funny thing about penguins in the parking lot. Tonight I went to the movies with my sis and we had some fast food beforehand and I decided to throw a french fry out to a seagull. He ate it and then immediately started screeching at me for more and two more appeared! Ah! I became so freaked out and the seagull even flew over the car like it was going to land on it. it was so pissed off I only gave it one fry. lmfao.
