And NINE? How does she deal? Most people first develop symptoms in young adulthood. Nine??? I can't even begin to comprehend it. Wow. Were her parents on, too? How do they deal with her illness?

Re your last paragraph: I've always seen things this way, that when things are real to a person, as in it makes he/she cry and laugh, they're real enough. They may not be real to you yet, but that may just be you're not cool enough. Those things are real enough, and that's all that matters. ♥

GOD. I know. And she's on full-strength adult medication. Her parents were on, yeah, they have to rent out two apartments right next to each other because this girl has a baby brother and they don't want her to be around him because she's dangerous. So they switch off every other day, one day the dad's with her and the next, the mom's with her. And god, one time, her dad had to break one of her pills in half to give her the right dose, so he bit it in half. He swallowed the half he didn't give her and wanted to fall down and pass out. A full grown man had half of one of her pills and damn near couldn't function, and he said she was still running around like mad.

Did they mention how old she was when she got diagnosed? And this is the part where I sigh and thank whatever deity there might be that her parents can AFFORD her treatment. Again, shit.

OH AND OH MY GOD I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS BC I'M ABOUT TO TELL YOU THIS. They showed home movies of her as a fucking baby. And you can SEE her looking at and reacting to stuff that isn't there. But they had no idea, of course. And then she was like a toddler, and they thought her symptoms were just normal, because all kids are sort of weird and stuff, and have imaginations and things. And oh my god they showed a clip of her and her mom playing on the floor, or maybe she was painting her toenails or something, she was probably 4, and the dad is filming and he said something about "Oh, Jani [blah blah blah]" and she yelled, "I'M NOT JANI!" and her mom just kept talking like it was all normal and it creeped me the fuck out. I have no idea how they can afford all that shit - her dad is an English professor and her mom doesn't work.

It's that kind of stuff that really makes you think. I totally agree and hate people who don't believe, well, not don't believe but don't admit that there's a possibility of other worlds and other intelligent life forms. I think it's totally ignorant.

Oh wow, it's things like this in life that just make the world so fucking fascinating. Scary as shit but fascinating nonetheless. I love hearing about things like this; they show Oprah here but no way in hell are they her latest episodes, fml.
