re: your anthropology grade, I think you should talk to her about it, if it concerns you that much. And I don't think you'd get a zero - do you talk a lot in class/take notes? And you've done at least one of the papers she assigned, so there. If it did go by her, I'm assuming that it was on purpose, because when it comes to participation, teachers know who's generally doing well and who's not. I think you'll be fine.

I think your Anthropology teacher sounds really understanding, so you should talk to her. it might have slipped by her, but if i were the teacher i'd want to know these things, because you should know exactly whats expected of you and i'd want to ensure that all throughout the year.

independent study sounds great for you! it gives you so much leeway and freedom, so you can actually put more of yourself into it.
