I was up until like 3am on the phone with Tina last night and we devised brilliant plans AND, she opened her Paula Abdul poster she ordered while I was on the phone with her, AND THEY SENT HER TWO BY ACCIDENT. SO SHE GIGGLED AND ASKED ME IF I WANTED ONE. I mean, DAMN Homes, was *I* ever lucky to be on the phone at that moment. I do not have a Paula ( Read more... )

GOOD QUESTION.

LOL I have those same issues... and with the other words that people use to. I totally dont mean to make this about race but back in the day nigger was an offensive word, and now African American people use it all the time as a greeting to each other... and call the white people crackers, which is suppose to be offensive to us, but I just find it hilarious... I just dont get it :\

Gah, this is such a touchy subject for SO MANY black people, but I do agree with you Liss. It WAS a horrible thing, but it did happen years ago. And I think the biggest problem is that it is something that America just doesn't know how to recover from. It's this huge riff in America that is beyond our scope of comprehension. Giving black people a random month doesn't help, affirmative action pisses a lot of people off, white and black, but no one really knows what to do about it.

ME TOO.
I find it MORE offensive that I would get a job because of the color of my skin even though someone else was better for the job.
RANDOM! Christina fact:
When my mom was pregnant with me and my dad's sisters were trying to get her to name me something ethnic, she refused, because she didn't want people to know what race I was over the phone- however favorable or unfavorable the outcome.

Me too, seriously. They say skin color shouldn't matter, so everyone should forget about it and all have to EARN their spot for other factors like intelligence, skill, determination, etc.

That is actually really, REALLY smart of your mother. That is amazing.

You kind of have to have affirmative action, though, because discrimination DOES still exist. I agree if discrimination DIDN'T exist you could get rid of affirmative action.

Oh, I know. It's just frustrating.

I think they should just, NOT ask you what race you are on your applications and then admit you based on your scores or whatever they're looking at to find candidates. I do not agree with Affirmative Action at ALL.
