"Friends". I think I'm starting to get it. And move past that superficial "omg this show is amazing" stage, and into the "no, this really was a big deal and if I think about it enough, I could completely cry because it is over" stage. And I feel like I missed out, and now I must know how those of you who are late to XF must feel right now. I mean, ( Read more... )

it was the end of an era and it still is when I rewatch the seasons, and in the last episode? I cry every. fucking. time. These people sort of became part of my life throughout the years and I was really upset when it ended.
I always laugh at Chandler's final line and as a chandler/monica shipper it makes me feel idk a bit better when I think monica is the first one who speaks in the pilot, my puzzle is complete and it makes sense.
I think this people will always be part of my life.

Yes! They're not just each other's friends, they're OUR friends. ♥

I was Friends obsessed, like I am with the X-Files now, for a couple of seasons before it finished. And I would cry, at the end of every season 10 episode, because I knew it was one week closer to finishing. And the night if finished, me and my mum, and my mum's friends all sat there in silence, apart from the occasional sob, watching these friends say goodbye to each other, and it felt like I was saying goodbye to them as well, because it was the show I grew up with, and I wasn't ready to say goodbye. I was so ectatic when I found out it was coming back onto Australian TV I was practically crying.

Exactly. I was like that with XF, and also with Harry Potter. My friends didnt get the XF thing, but everyone IRL was comparing it to closing the book on their childhood. and it's so sad when you grow up on something and have to let it go. it symbolizes so many things.

I totally get the Harry Potter thing. Ever since I got the first, second nad third books as a birthday present one year, I was obsessed. I was one of those people who stood in line on the release day for Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows and I was heavily, heavily involved in fandom, with lots of friends and memories stemming from that. I'll always remember the day that Deathly Hallows came out, because it was the day that 10 years of my life basically ended. This series that I'd lived with, laughed with and cried with was ending. I've since lost touch with basically all of those friends, and the only contact I have with the fandom now is seeing movies when they come out, and catching up on the latest news at The Leaky Cauldron. it's sad, but it was time to say goodbye, at least for me anyway

I KNOW, SAME HERE. I got the first three as a set, and then went and waited in line for all the other ones. And god, that day that DH came out, was so sad. I was so excited but it came way too fast and it was so hard. And then when I was reading it and during all of that really heavy shit at the end, I was crying so hard I almost threw up. I had to pull the wastepaper basket over. It was just so sad. But I agree, I think for the most part I was ready for it. I didn't take it AS hard as some other people, which made it easier for me. And now, I'm TOTALLY fine with it.

YES. I pretty much grew up watching it when I could but now that I'm watching it in order...it's just...wow. Easily one of the best shows ever. And the finale...when it aired...I cried for DAYS. Part of my life was ending - something I had known forever was coming to an end. I miss it SO much. I remember there was like a one hour special before they aired the finale, and it had like, cast interviews and going on the set and stuff during the filming (I TAPED OVER THAT FOR A REBA EPISODE. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME?! MAJOR FUCKING FAILAGE) and it hurt ME to see all that coming to an end - I couldn't even IMAGINE what it must've been like for them. I'm getting chills just thinking about how amazing everything was. I really, really, really need to shell out the money to get all the seasons. I hate not having them.

Friends (just like the X-Files) is the kind of show I used to watch when I was little. Yesterday I've watched the season four finale and it was so moving - just like the first time I've watched it on TV.
