"Do not hire a man who does your work for money, but him who does it for love of it."

I know I am going to upset people, but I don't care because I've never been one to be quiet for the sake of someone else. I AM SO SICK. OF THIS WRITERS STRIKE CRAP. And I know there are other people that are sick of it too, because they've told me they were. They ALSO told me that they were hesitant to speak publicly about it because they didn't ( Read more... )

I agree about fighting for causes, seriously. And maybe it's just my particular f-list, but I feel like there are so many people who don't even know what is going on, but are supporting it because everyone else is. Or, "hey I wanna fight about stuff, this looks like a good one. *jumps on bandwagon*" And I'm sure I'm going to be pissed when all my shows run out, I AM pissed I won't have shows. But I just don't feel like me being all "I support the strike" on my own LJ, which is extremely insignificant when you look at the world as a whole is going to change the minds of these people who won't pay the writers. They've proven that they don't seem to care what anyone else thinks, as long as they can sit and pull in all of that money ( ... )

That's okay, and you don't have to take the walk. I was just making a point. And I still respect everything you said, even though you ARE a part of those comms. Because like I said before, you're educated on the topic and you're supporting it for YOU, which was my whole issue anyway.

Thank you. ♥. And I'm with you on that one - I'm not commenting on it anywhere either.

If I were a writer, I'd be the first fucking person on that picket line. I'm ALL about supporting and standing up for yourself.

But I'm not a writer. I probably will never BE a writer. So I really have to sympathize with everyone else in the behind the scenes media of it that will be affected by this.

My point of this post was not to say that I don't support the writers. I do. I totally understand why they are striking and I really love them for doing it. My point was that people on here, on my f-list, are making decisions to support the cause when I know that they aren't even thinking about it.

I wish DE would post too. And I think House has shot about 5 episodes that they can show.

Exactly. I'd rather do what I love and JUST make the bills, than to have a job I hate and be rolling in the dough.

GET YOUR WEAPONS, BB, THIS HYPOCRITICAL SHIT IS NOT GONNA FLY 'ROUND HERE.

I know. Nobody should be afraid to speak. FREE SPEECH, YES.

I understand why they're pissed to and OMG YOU BRING UP AMAZING POINTS. Esp about being lucky that striking is a right. Striking for money is bullshit, especially when so many other people are affected. Fine, if you wanna give up your job for weeks or maybe months for your cause, that's fine. But don't force everyone else to lose their jobs for your selfish crusade.

And that strikethrough shit - at least that made more sense to speak out against, *I* think, but I see your point - I kind of hate LJ for that reason, with that bandwagon crap.
