Favre surpassed Dan Marino's career touchdown pass record. Marino had 420 and Favre ended the game with 422. It was quite amazing.

i hear it was actually more amazing on the TV - i didnt get to see any of the cute stuff like him kissing his wife or anything :(

Awww. I missed him kissing his wife, but watching the reaction was incredible. It's a huge deal, and it was great seeing the fan reaction and his teammates reactions. It was good fun. Good for him.

IT'S SO TRUE THOUGH. next time anyone ever gives me shit about fandom, i will be like, "TRY GIVING UP FOOTBALL, BITCH, IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME TO ME." lol.

Maybe the fandom vs. sports thing is just because sports are something the average person can get into without a serious commitment? Like with a show, people don't feel like they know the characters well enough if they watch it just occasionally, and with sports they don't feel like they have to. So maybe when they think of people who are obsessed with sports they just see the casual, stoic side of it, but when they see people obsessed with TV or movies they can't help but see the personal engagement and they see it like we're abandoning our own lives to be obsessed with other ones.

Sorry for the longish response. I enjoy analyzing fandom way too much. :D
