OKAY - my camera fell on pavement two weeks ago (I had my older, smaller camera bag since I didn't need extra lenses or flash, only I'm no longer used to the broken zipper so when I climbed out of the backseat of a truck, it fell out), worked fine for the rest of the night, okay. I....don't even have words. FUCKING CUNTS. I'm so sorry you have to go through this, Liss, I would be enraged as well and I don't even need my camera to make a living/do jobs.
I totally understand about wanting to keep your baby, too, even if it WAS broken. When my first Macbook's (Dana :(() motherboard fried, I was so devastated and I couldn't get rid of her at all, even though she's a piece of non-usable junk now. Almost three years later, she's still sitting in my shelf, may she RIP.
BUT I GOT A NEW ONE. AND IT'S BEEN FABULOUS. AND IT'S NAMED 1013 AND WE MADE NEW MEMORIES AND NOW IT'S SERVED ME LONGER THAN DANA EVER HAS, BLESS HER IMMORTAL SOUL, AND YOU CAN TOTALLY DO THAT WITH YOUR NEW *D90* TOO!
Canon, what the effing fuck. Their level of idiocy is incomprehensible.
If they don't have it tomorrow, make them compensate for the job. No, seriously.

Sounds like you gave them appropriate hell though, and hey, keep it up.
That is SO not right. They should never junk something that you sent FOR REPAIR without your *express* permission. I bet you're totally right, that they're going to re-sell it, all while trying to pawn off non-equivalent Canon equipment on you.
I hope you either get it back, or get it replaced with *exactly* what you want.

*hugs* But new equipment is good! I understand your sentimental attachment to your old camera, but you will create new memories on a new body.
