Not that this will matter at this point, but i respectfully disagree. This just goes to show that even the great minds in the world have their faults.
If we do not hold ourselves to high standards of some sort (morals, honor, whatever you wish to inssert here), we become nothing more than mindless barbarians in search of our next source of power, beating each other senseless until we get it, and doing worse on occasion.
This does nothing to help society move forward, and that is the ultimate goal of the human race. One which shouldn't be overlooked.
Not that this was meant for me, but i firmly believe that, while the ends are important, the means by which we get there shows our true character and is what will be remembered.
Sorry for the disssertation, it needed to be said.
I'm not certain it needed to be said, but I'm wililng to accept you needed to say it...
As for the rest, it's opinion. As long as you accept that - and you usually do - we have no quarrel.
However... the difference between "morals" and "what is right" is... mmm... it's very similar to the honour debate. I stand on the side of right over morality... little surprise there.
I always thought the quote was a bit of a clever pun... other than that it is meaningless to me... "moral" and "right" should be synonymous, if not, then something is confused. How could something moral be wrong?
morals and right and wrong are subjectivecollinfaganSeptember 17 2003, 20:25:44 UTC
Morality, a doctrine or system of moral conduct
Morality is only a system of conduct that defines what is right and wrong for those that follow it. The statement encouraged you to do what YOU feel is right and not what some ones elses doctrine tries to tell you is right.
