What do you consider a good blender? Do you mean Cuisinart good, or like Kitchenaid good?

I mention that because I have a Cuisinart blender, and it works great although it breaks a lot. Compared the the workmanship on my Kitchenaid stand mixer, the Cuisinart is shoddy.

Avoid a blender that has plastic gears between the motor and the jar.

KitchenAide good. Our current blender was a $25 special or something way back, possibly before I even met Sam, and it's dying.

I want something that can handle pumpkin (butternut), ice, and hummus.
