Huzzah, costuming (looking ahead)

craftzine rocks my world.

In This round-up of their best "Green" crafts, they post something I was just sort of thinking about - this pattern for "re-purposed house slippers," which sounds to me like "using scraps of an outfit to make a pair of indoor LARP shoes."

Or, with a couple layers of scrap leather/suede skirt, cute outdoor shoes as well. Won't be the hardiest things, but they'd be nifty.

Hmm...now I want to look up how to do boiled leather...

Yeah, I was thinking of using either duck or leather on the soles, too. Jill likes to take her games outside.

I did wind up reading up on boiled leather and other techniques...might experiment with a Goodwill suede skirt and see how that comes out. I'll keep you posted. :)

*nods* I have my old "cowgirl" jeans (black jeans I bleached to this funny variegated green-blue colour, but they're really sturdy) that I might overdye, and then just use leather/suede for the bottom sole.

I eagerly await your results.
