the worthless word for the day is: qiviut
[Inuit qiviuq, down, underhair] /KEE vee ut/
the soft wool of the undercoat of the musk ox
"But to measure qiviut in terms of pounds is like
speaking of the proverbial ton of feathers."
- Brad Leithuser, The Atlantic Monthly (1993)
(still wondering if I'm allergic to this one. Alpaca was a no-go)
word of the day,
i want,
knitting,
wish list

Oh, and I meant to ask you: good quilting resources? My kid sister has become a knitting junkie, and I want to feed the addiction for the holidays.

Good quilting resources... sadly, Idunno. Other than.. ye old JoAnne's is going more and more that ways, and there's a tiny little fabric store in Fairport where I got my Phaff that has a lot of nice stuff. I'm not exactly anti-quilt, but I don't do much of it, either.

Knitting, I know.
Sadly, there's not a lot in Rah-cha-cha. There's a store in 12 Corners, Brighton - that plaza that looks like a refuge from the 70's? There's a place in there. And and Village Yarn Store, which I much prefer, used to be in Midtown & moved to Piano Works Mall over the summer... which is where there's another quilting store, too *grins at you*
The knitting blogosphere is phenomenal..
Yarn Harlot, my current favorite blogger, suggests
Gifts for Knitters .. and Again, two years later. She is a wiser woman than I (not everyone has a husband who can wind a ball of yarn as well as mine.)
