What's your favourite gem?

Mine are lapis lazuili & malachite, followed closely by amber & tiger's eye. Actually the order of the pairs depends on mood.

Blue ceylon sapphire, tanzanite, and watermelon tourmaline.

Garnet (my birthstone), peridot, emerald, opal, lapis lazuli... others depending on my mood and if I see something pretty. :)

Sapphires (featured in my engagement ring because I like them so much), followed by Amethysts (one pendant owned) and Opals (don't have one but want one, but, due to being superstitious, I dare not buy one for myself).

It is bad luck to buy opals for oneself, unless it is one's birthstone. They have to be given, as a gift.

I like opals, not only because they are my birthstone (and I have bought them myself and will continue to do so when I hve the $$). Also moonstones and garnets. I liek shimmer in a gem, and adore colour. Diamonds actually move me very little and I doubt I'd every want anything that features them as somethign other than the little tiny sparkle to highlight other gems.
