So far so good! The hive lived through its first winter, and then I harvested about a gallon of honey this summer. Right now they seem to be having a varroa mite problem, so they're getting dosed with a miticide called Apilife Var. I keep figuring out what I should have been doing three weeks ago, but so far that hasn't killed them.

i lived in the area till about age 7...

i have fond memories of alexandria and norfolk.

NoVa gets decent winter weather if you like snow.

I had not been back there till a few years ago when I tried to go to the cherry blossom festival in the spring. No blossoms.. too cold.. late winter but I really like DC.

Now eastern Maryland reminds me so much of the deep south, which is nice when you are so close to yankee territory.
