Beach and fair; good financial news; back to submissions

Every summer I say I want to do two things:

1) I want to go to the beach.
2) I want to go to a fair.

Necessary caveats: an ocean beach (I can go to a lake-beach any time), and an agricultural fair (I'm not interested in like the state fair, or any other really big, commercial fairs).Every summer for at least the past five? ten? years, I've ( Read more... )

Congratulations to your husband! That's a nice raise.

And congrats on being so close to paying off that 2nd mortgage. That's a huge accomplishment.

I read through your synopsis and query letter and if you're still interested in feedback, I shall send that today.

Good luck on your query!!!

I think I would prefer waves, myself. One of my favorite activities when I used to go swimming on Lake Champlain was jumping into/over the incoming waves.

Where is Horseneck Beach? I mean, I've driven down to Plymouth to see Alison before, so I am not adverse to taking a drive.

That is down in Westport, Mass. It is probably just as easy to go to Newport? (or PortPort - so may ~ports)

For the best waves (IMHO), you need to get outside the Boston Harbor effect that is created by Cape Cod.

While I tend to rapidly hit sensory overload at fairs, I hear you on the beach thing. I grew up a couple towns down the road from the NH coast, and am used to being shoreside way more frequently than I have been since I moved to Mass.. I don't really know the Mass. beaches at all, but the NH coast past the main tourist trap that is Hampton Beach has some nice beaches. I usually go up toward evening, once the tourists start to clear out, but I have a preference for the ocean at sunset/night anyway. If you ever want to join me, you are more than welcome. :)

I actually did not grow up near the ocean! But I did grow up on Lake Champlain, which is one of the largest lakes in the country (the largest after the Great Lakes, actually). Somehow swimming in the teeny-tiny Hickory Hills Lake is not the same. Like cristovau above, I really prefer waves.

Do keep me informed if you're going up the coast. I'd love to tag along, provided the timing works.

My weekend's are pretty much non-existent until mid-July (aside from the weekend of the 4th, when I'd rather stab myself with a knitting needle than venture anywhere near the beaches), but I'll definitely let you know the next time I head up. Yay beach people!

Crane Beach in Ipswitch. is particularly beautiful, I think. I've never experienced much in the way of waves there, but it's a really nice long stretch, and there are some really nice paths through the dunes, if you like long walks. If beach or fair things happen this summer on a Sunday and you'd like company, I'm up for this kind of stuff!

Swimming--or at least, being in the water. With some amount of waves.
