I've been dreadful about updating lately, but I know some of you enjoy the scintillating details of my life, so, um. I've arranged them somewhat?

What I've been reading. There are a lot of books on my nightstand right now, and more on the iPad--and audiobooks on my iPhone for listening in the car. But that's not unusual. Sometimes I force myself

Uuuuugh the 1720s. I gave up and bought a Polonaise on ebay. I'm wearing it with my Sofi's Stitches Elizabethan corset, because I couldn't be arsed to buy stays, and the shape is pretty similar.

Now I'm just concerned because the dress doesn't have clasps or hooks or anything, they prefer to do it with straight pins so you can add your own methods of closing it, and I just will not have time for that nonsense. So I hope I can figure how to close it with straight pins in a way where the pins don't show.

Augh I bought another dress I need an intervention.

Straight pins? My goodness. That sounds like a painful accident waiting to happen.

Could you sew on some hooks and eyes? It's really easy hand-sewing. I do all my hand-finishing of garments while attending panels for pre-con ;)

Well, if the pins are on the inside of the dress, then they're against the outside of my corset. And the front of the corset is impenetrable. There's a busk there, but not a closure busk, just the flat steel parts. It's this corset: http://sofisstitches.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=154
You can kind of see the flat part straight down the center.

It would take a very special kind of straight pin to get through it.

I'm not sure if I'll have time to do the handsewing... I'm way behind on the bustle skirt, and the dress may not even arrive until the day before the con. I couldn't get any time off of work, so I won't even get to go to pre-con. We'll see. Maybe I'll have time Saturday morning. Maybe.

Seriously I have to stop buying dresses, I have nowhere to put them.
