I was once told to get a smartphone so I could be added to the family app groups when my remarks of 'huh, photos? no of course I haven't seen those photos' were met with (fake?) surprise.
So I went and got a smartphone and I still don't get any apps.
I have no idea if there is any information in circulation at all, or if I'm simply out of the loop.
SIL was very overprotective with her first baby, so I can imagine she wouldn't want too many visitors right away, but I couldn't pop over to Amsterdam anyway without planning. If I look at our weekends (and the time nephew's 2nd birthday was held at), a lot of weekends wouldn't be possible anyway. On weekdays might just manage a visit of an hour max within school hours, which is probably more than they want a visit for, but is half an hour worth travelling 4 horus for?
I emailed my brother last night to congratulate them and said I'd wait for a suggestion of when we could come. Ball's in their court.
Wow. My family is very, very different than yours. I called all my sibs within the first 48 hours and the family gossip had gotten around long before then.
No idea how soon we sent cards but email of pictures? definitely within hours.
We phoned our parents, who took care of further spreading.
I don't recall exactly, but I think my mother phoned me about the elder sibling of this child. Now we're not on good terms she might have deliberately not done so. I have no idea.

So we're assuming it went well? That's reasonably speedy, as sending birth announcements go.

Now we wouldn't have been able to come over immediately anyway, so they wouldn't have had to be afraid of that.
