Disappearing Picture Books AND Article?

Last week, I met writerlinda at Barnes & Noble. As we walked into the picture book section, we sensed something was wrong right away. Odd. Off. The picture book wall was...well, missing a lot of picture books. Honestly, the ones they did have were stacked at the bottom (not facing out!)and most books on display were activity books of some sort. Clearly, ( Read more... )

Go and ask a polite comment about it and you'll get deleted, just like I did. Twice now. The third time, my comment wouldn't post. I think my anonymous handle has been banned.

Then again, you might not want to. Maybe they'll figure out my secret identity and never review my books again.

oh brother.
I do not know now or ever have known a parent of a 4 or 5 year old who wants to ditch a picture book for a chapter book... that is a made-up fact to support this idea... B S.

B&N is probably experiencing a lot of backlash -- as they should! Interesting that one cannot even comment about the issue without getting deleted! But the whole situation is sad. I don't want to see that missing PB wall . . .

I think it's been on the decline for a while now...too many nonbooks have been creeping in...
