For the past two day's we've had tornado watches (different from a tornado warning - which is much more ominous) here in KC

Welcome to the midwest. There have been days where it's been sunny and warm in the morning and the temperature drops 30 degrees and we're suddenly surrounded by storm clouds and tornadoes by late afternoon. I don't think there's any other place on earth that has such volatile weather.
