Demons Covenant ARC Contest Entry (take 2)

Feb 23, 2010 19:02

Well, after the epic fail of the last one, here's round two. Also from Mae's POV, as tribute to a) Covenant being from her point of view and b) her being my all-time favourite female character.
(...I really need a Mae icon. Anyone able to point me in the right direction? ^_^ )

Life was complicated enough.... )

Thank you so much! Mae is a wonderful character, and I love writing her, but I do worry whether or not I'm doing her justice :)

I love this short story. It is amazing how you can show us a very good picture of Mae and the love she has for her brother. I love the intensity of her character and her attitute toward protecting her brother. Also, I love how she refered to Alan,Nick and Jamie as her boys.
Wonderful Job!

PS. I am glad you won!!!

Okay, my reaction to this comment?

OH MY GOD I WON A PRIZE?

I didn't know the competition was over! xD So thank you thank you thank you for a lovely comment and a lovely piece of news. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, and that you liked my take on Mae - she's such a complicated, layered character that I have difficulty doing her justice sometimes.

Congratulations on your win! This story definitely deserved it. It gives such a fascinating insight into Mae's character and definitely seems true to how she is portrayed in the books. So thank you for writing this!

Thank you very much! My prize arrived today - Guardian of The Dead, by Karen Healey. It's so good, I'm completely neglecting much-important schoolwork to read it and driving my Mum spare xD. I'm glad you felt I captured Mae's voice - I really wanted to show how I felt she would react once there was time to stop running and really think about the situation she was in. Thank you for reading!
