I have mentioned before there's a stray cat that comes in my balcony. She has three colors: while, orange and gray and because I leave out food for her, she pretty much visits every day. Yesterday I discovered a new cat in the balcony. A big, long furred tabby cat, a male for sure. What is happening is that our regular visitor must be in heat and

There is only one solution to this: catch the calico and get her neutered. I did that with the stray cats around my place in Italy too, I fed some of them from time to time, but always caught at least the females and brought them to the local animal protection shelter, where I had to pay only a small "donation" to get it done. They kept them a few days, then I kept them a few more in my courtyard, and after not even a week usually they are fit to go away again, and won´t be an attraction for the males any more.. and set more poor little strays into the world. It is somewhat of a hassle, but much less than a continuous bother with the males showing up!

I don't have a yard, only tree rooms, one of which is moms, restricted to cats. I have two cats already and bringing another one in a small apartment is really hard. I really don't know what to do. I wonder if I'll find kittens in my balcony three months from now - or when is the due date for cats? I know it sounds absurd, but at the moment I am very stressed by this cat situation. My cats are stressed too.

Try to talk to your vet or a local shelter about it. sometimes they´ll keep the animals until they are fit to go again, if you don´t have the possibility to shelter her. Not doing anything will probably make things worse.. she just could decide to give birth on your balcony, yes. And it is only 60 days for cats. I have been through this stuff (FIVE KITTENS) once and well, it isn´t fun if you don´t know where to put them!

There is no cat shelter here. There are some animal protection associations in the neighbor towns, but they don't have shelters. If there is a shelter, it's for dogs. And the poor dogs are treated horribly. The vets don't keep the animals more than the period of the operation. This is Romania...

I really feel for you Lisa with your cat problem I wish that I had a solution for you.

It's a crying shame that there isn't any cat welfare organisations where you live.

I guess I'll deal with the problems when they happen. If she has kittens here, I'll have to try and find them homes. What else can I do? I hope it will not be the case, but if it is, there's no one to blame.

I can understand why you feel like you want to keep feeding them. I would too. But I'm afraid the only solution may be to stop. Otherwise they will just keep coming. Maybe you should avoid the balcony when they are around, otherwise you will feel guilty. Hopefully they will just move on.

I don't know. I can't leave her without food. I tried, but I can't. I don't know where else she could find any. The balcony is the one from my room. I can't not see what is going on. Last night I knew there was a cat there and I looked to see a tabby cat tail. I opened the door to chase away the tabby, but it turned out the regular visitor cat, the one in three colors also had a tabby tail. She looked at me and asked me if that was OK, I couldn't refuse her... hahaha. You know what I mean.
