A brilliant ad campaign for an Italian gelato (Antonio Federici - give them a "like" on facebook if you like them - they don't have enough fans) is facing ban again for the pregnant nun poster. Angry Catholics feel insulted and want a repeat of the ban of the 2009 campaign (yes, it got banned too). What is insulting about art photography? You like ( Read more... )

I'd say it's intruging. of course, they are provocative and controversial, but isn't art about it as well? [I can only imagine how much of a controversy it would have created if it was shown in Poland, haha :P]
anyways, I'd prefer seeing "insulting" photography than ugly mug of some half-naked model.

I'm a Catholic too - I think I would have found it insulting if it showed some fat old priests trying to punish the nun or something like this. I think the ads are just cool. They do attract attention to the product they're selling. They're daring but not insulting. They do not present horrible sins within the church, just the human side of things. Because people are people and they have weaknesses (like ice cream ;) ) even if they are committed to the church. Any church, as a matter of fact.

Love both ads, though I think the more recent one is the more striking. But, uh, damn that man is fine looking.
