healthcare

In Romanian the healthcare system is so disastrous, it's stupefying for the outsiders. If you're visiting, don't get sick here. If you live here, God help you. The idea is that we all contribute and pay medical insurance but we are expected to bribe the medical staff and pay for most of our medication in case we get sick anyway ( Read more... )

Italy is much the same. I pay nearly 30% of my income ONLY for state health insurance, and the few times I had no other choice than to go to the doctor/ER in Italy, it was.. appalling. So I'm paying EXTRA insurance on my own in Germany, so I can get decent healthcare. But here things are getting more difficult too.. so for every visit, no matter why, you have immediately to leave 10 Euro "Praxisgebuehr" before they even start visiting you.

I'm sure there are problems everywhere, but trust me, here it's incredible. If you end up in the claws of the Romanian health care system, say bye-bye to civilization and human rights. By the way, have you ever seen the movie Moartea domnului Lazarescu? Reality is worse than that.

Yes, you pay 10 Euros (soon 15), but once at 3 months.

Last year my mother has been in hospital(s) for months. So I had the dubious honor to get to know the system so well. It's just horrible. I think most doctors belong behind bars. And when they're not criminally incompetent, they simply ignore you. I could tell horror stories... true stories.

WHAT???? How to refuse someone medical care, even if they are old???? Aren't we all human beings with the same fucking rights to live??? Or at least it's wrote something like that in that mockery of Constitution of Romania. And that thing with the malpraxis... no one thought of complaining about these laws to the EU or some human rights organization????

God that's horrible! Our health insurance situation is a nightmare, but at least there are laws in place so that a person can't be refused medical care. Of course you end up in debt, with collection agencies harassing you (I speak from experience with that). But I can't believe they can legally refuse to care for someone. That's so wrong.

They say it costs too much and they must set priorities. Like this doesn't mean refusing very sick people. The idea is that now the patient depends on the doctor's mood or something.

That is absolutely appalling. It pisses me right off that the rich, young and beautiful always get preferential treatment. This, however, is just wrong.

Yes, there's discrimination everywhere. Now they want a law to support discrimination even in such extreme cases.
