Explosion at Fukushima vid We are not sure if it is the reactor or another building but 1015 micro sieverts per hour recorded at time of explosion - about the same amount as the human limit for one year (NHK).
Thank you I will. Yes, let's hope ... although it is not looking good - they are saying it's a level 4 disaster on a scale of 7 (for nuclear accidents).
This is really bad news on top of everything else that has to be dealt with. Someone I know is waiting to hear word on her son--whom she hasn't been able to contact after the tsunami hit--and he was in that area.
So much heartbreak and fear for all concerned. {{{hugs}}}
You might want to pass this onto your friend - Emergency numbers for foreigners in Sendai have been announced: 022 265 2471/ 022 224 1919.
This is fresh off one of my twitter feeds from Tokyo. They are usually an entertainment feed but they have switched to doing everything they can to help in the disaster. http://www.timeout.jp/
Thanks--I'll pass it on to the friend of the friend. She's been on the Google Find People thing they've got running and she's got the state department involved, but as the information and video footage keeps rolling in, it certainly looks grim. We're all trying to stay hopeful on her behalf though.

Oh that is terrible for your friend. I hope he is safe and it's just a matter of not being able to get through.
