That's the crux of the matter ... and I know it's doing that to me. I've been so cautious about moving, despite the fact that there hasn't been much to keep me here in Gifu, apart from the rent and the sense of green/trees/nature around me. So I figure, having 7 years of unbelievably cheap rent ($90/week)under my belt I can really afford to make that change - I hate to spend more than I know I can live on - I pride myself on being economical and living a basic subsistence-y lifestyle, but there comes a point in one's life where needing that slight rise in standard of living becomes more important than continuing with conditions you know you can survive

It sounds as if you're making exactly the right move for yourself.

I'm so sorry to hear you're despondent though. I assumed you were busy in fandom and not down. I do sympathise having struggled myself over the past year or so. It's no fun at all and I totally understand re the issue of being in a positive frame of mind. Sometimes I just can't interact at all when I'm down for some reason.

As for my plans - I'll save them for private email as they're quite personal!

Great to hear your good news-fingers crossed that it all works out OK.
Commuting is Hell, wherever you're doing it so that will be an improvement if you can ditch that. Surely the reduction in transport costs will help to pay for the hopefully nice new appartment?
And yes, there does come a time when you want a bit more than the bare bones approach to your home.

Thanks re the moving news. Actually transportation is almost always paid by the companies/schools, in Japan, so sadly, no savings for me are involved, except in time of course, which is the important one for me.
