Maxis Taste Dare 33

Aug 18, 2012 11:47

This is my entry for Maxis Taste's Dare 33, my first time participating. I'm excited to show this! I don't know what's going on with the text, some of it is calibri and some of it isn't... hopefully it isn't jarring or anything.
I've put all my prompts together for a big prompt-off, or something. They were:

Jodie Larson (Landgraab in my game)
Stephen ( Read more... )

landgraab, maxis taste dare, tinker, bluewater, jacquet

I really enjoyed how you used all of the prompts and sims for this one. It was a nice story with a bitter sweet ending. I feel sorry for Jody but I am sure she could have found happiness somehow if she had just given it a chance and gotten some help.

Thanks for commenting!
I'm sure Jodie would have found peace if she'd stuck at it, but (at least in this story/narration thing) she's just too dramatic and not rational enough to sit through marriage counselling, therapy, etc.
I'm very glad you enjoyed it! :)

Edit: Also, I clicked on your name on your comment and I realised I lurked on your BaCC a while ago, but I forgot about it! I remember enjoying it, so thank you for commenting so I could remember your story as well! :D

I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I'm grinning like an idiot here.
The other two were so wrapped up in their problems that I needed a profound moment to show how badly Jodie was hurting, and after seeing the haggard eye makeup in peasant007's legacy I knew I'd have to get my hands on it for Jodie. This isn't truly the end of Jodie, she left behind two awesome children who I'll be showing soon (there's... interesting genetics at play. Bring popcorn.)
Thanks for reading!

Ohh! I really liked this! how cute! :) I loved how you tied in Stephan's days at Sim State as a mascot! And his outfit! Gah! So perfect for him!!!

I liked the ending! It was dark, but meaningful! And I love how Gilbert finally settled in. :) How sweet!

Hi! Thank you for reading and I'm super glad you liked it. I wasn't too sure about it, I kept staring and nitpicking but I decided it was now or I'd end up procrastinating forever, so I took the plunge.
I don't know if you've seen Wanda, but his trousers match her dress too. :P
I'm really glad you found it meaningful. I was a bit scared it would seem like I was just killing her off for the shock effect, but I feel much better about it now.
I actually lurked on your dare but never commented! I must rectify that now.

Yes! I noticed that! I thought it was beyond adorable! I have such a hard time finding cute/funny outfits like that for men! Everything is too cool for me. :-P Not everybody can have the best fashion taste, right? :-P

No, I like what you did with Jodi! :-P I actually never thought of pairing them up. But that may be because I like to force my sims to marry others from different towns. XD And I liked how the daughter was named Hannelore. Because in my game, I remade Hannelore to get married to Malcolm! XD It's so funny how different somebody can use the same characters!

But yes, It was interesting. :) I like Jodi. A lot. She can be pretty meaningful if played correctly! I'm still trying to find her a man in my game! :-P

(Thank you for the comment!)

Oh no! Wow, I did not see that coming. I don't have much sympathy for Jodie (well, I do, but there's always a better way!) but I feel so bad for her poor family. :( Hannelore is a really pretty name, by the way. :) Stephen's such a lovable dork and Gilbert...I have mixed feelings about him. But he's definitely more interesting now. :)

Edit: Oh, and of course, excellent job on the story. I really liked the Breakfast Club feeling. The ending distracted me a bit from saying so before... ;)

I tried to hint at it a couple of times, for example she told Jason she was going to live fast and die young, and that bit just after she married Malcolm where she felt empty, but it's difficult to hint without yelling 'JODIE IS GOING TO DIE!' :P
In big old families like the Goths and the Landgraabs I like to use family names, and in the Sims 3 for console there's a Hannelore Landgraab (going back to check now, I see she's only a spouse... oh well, I like the name!)
Stephen is a loveable dork! :) Yeah, Gilbert is a bit of a sarcastic asshole in my head (but a charming one, when he wants to be), but I think this whole experience will soften him up a bit.
I know what you mean about the ending distracting from everything else. Normally when I read a story if something unexpected happens at the end it's all I can remember! But thank you for reading and commenting didily, I appreciate it.

This was really good! :D I really enjoyed it and the insights into each character! Loved the Breakfast Club reference. :) Also 'She lives with me!' had me snickering.

Poor Jodie though! I didn't predict such a sad ending for her. :( But it's certainly gonna make Malcolm's life interesting... And how will Jason react?

Gilbert and Breanna are really growing on me as an OTP now. I hope he stays faithful to her.

Also, I love how all of them look, their makeovers I mean. Stephen is perfect for that dorky suit, and Jodie with the black suit, hair and sunglasses... I'm kinda sad she won't be around anymore.

Looking forward to more!

I'm 67% sure the 'She lives with me!' was a quote, but I can't find it now. I just thought of it when I looked at Gilbert and Denise, the whole Mother/Son living situation is picked on a lot so I had to throw at least one jab in. :P ( ... )
