A Mini-Vacation

Mar 31, 2010 23:13

So this week was the week of Jet's Spring Break and on the most part we were just home and putzing about and doing the usual things, and then on Monday Jet said at dinner time, "You know, if we're going on a trip during the vacation, we should probably plan it now."

He was right. )

gardening, food, painting, movie, travel

1) I've totally seen and loved those mugs other places! I need a lot of tea to get going in the morning, and I'm usually on the bus, though, so I've got a big aluminum and plastic mug with a handle.

2) Aaaah OM :') I still have all my old t-shirts from the four years I did it.

3) This post makes me feel guilty about how messy my own garden is right now. I've been putting off my pre-planting weeding with the excuse of 'it's still raining', but it's been pretty dry the last few weeks >_>

4) I am totally in that obsessive list-making mode right now (even this comment is a list sigh) - it's totally my reaction to anxiety XD

*grins* Cool about large capacity. And, yeah, the garden takes a lot of work. *laughs*

Mine too - but it gets me outside, and the rewards are so worth it. Mmm, homegrown tomatoes

Looks like you had a pretty fabulous time. ^_____^

I would like to take this opportunity to state that I live in California and, should your road trip take you through the Bay Area... *grin*

Ah ha!

Yeah, we're likely to be there for two days at least, mostly out by Santa Cruz, but yeah, that would be very cool.

That mini-vacation sounds delighful!

I am awed and impressed by your gardening work. That's very interesting about the bleaching of the seedling trays. You'd think that leaving them unbleached would leave behind nutrients for the little seedlings. Or does the bleaching kill off bacteria that could harm their tiny little systems?

bacteria and viruses - it prevents this incredibly common virus that seedling wilt. older gardening books reccomend this weird copper acid thing I can't rememebr the name of. cheshunt mixture, maybe?

Woo.

Bleach is easy. *laughs* But that's intriguing about the old remedy!

Cheshunt compound - contains copper sulphate and ammonium carbonate.

Ad says
Damping off is a fungal disease that attacks seedlings causing them to suddenly keel over and die. Cheshunt compound is a soluble fungicide which helps prevent damping-off disease in seedlings.

Can be used on all seedlings whether edible or non-edible.
Easy to use, dilute and water the solution onto compost before sowing and repeat after the emergence of the seedlings.
For transplanting, water seedlings with the solution before and after the transplanting.

160 grams makes 50 litres - suitable for Organic Gardening

This isn't exactly a reply because you didn't write about knitting socks. My daughter told me about the Afterthought Heel. It sounds so easy that I want to try it. Have you tried it?

*giggles*

Yes! I love the Afterthought heel for Jet's socks as he wears through them so quickly!

Just knit the tube, snip it where you want the heel, unravel a bit to either side and then knit in the heel. I love it for socks where I have to change things out like the heel and toe.
