Yeah, she probably had a hard time with us spoiled American Kids. *laughs* It is amazing how it forms, I don't even remember her face, but I know that my voice echoes hers. It's interesting to see how memory goes on...

Girl Genius is excellent but not at all what I'd think of as manga. I've tried a dozen or so OEL Manga (Original English Language, a term I prefer to Amerimanga) but of all those I like Dramacon by svetlania best. I'm also enjoying what I've read of her Night School, available in two collections so far and monthly in Yen+ magazine.

Wow... thank you for weeding out only the best for me! I appreciate that a lot, and what you've given me has been very very fine indeed.
Yeah... Girl Genius isn't manga... but Dramacon definitely qualifies in my book. I think that it's how she portrays what are very, very American traditions with all their quirks, peculiarities, and cool things as well. It's in an interesting contrast to the details of Japanese culture that sometimes get highlighted in various Japanese manga. Well, AND the art style is just really fun.
Ooo... web comics! Hee. I'll try, too.
I really, really liked ASN a *lot*... I love how everything wove together and how they got resolution in all the most satisfying of ways given each character's difficulties... thought some aspects of the ending were very sad, having Sou show up in the epilogue really made it all worthwhile...
Pear cider sounds fantastic. Wish one of our orchards around here made it.
Jet is such a gem!
You liked the ending to After school Nightmare. I was so frustrated with it. I wasn't looking for a happy ending, but an at least an accepting of self that I felt did not happen. *shrugs* I think maybe part of it was the shock of where it went, but I wasn't all that impressed with how she wrapped up the gender identity issues.
I'm pretty sure I didn't LIKE that the four kids "died" in the dream room. I was pretty grouchy about that, especially the two that I'd come to really like. I kind of "got" it in that they may well have been the other four babies in that maternity room.
I'm realizing now that "getting" it still isn't the same as "liking" it. *laughs*
The pieces fit logically, for me; but I can see why it wasn't emotionally fulfilling.

She also has two webcomics: Chasing Rainbows and Night Silver, which I keep meaning to try.
Setona Mizushiro, who did After School Nightmare, also did the two volume X-Day, which I thought was good but not as good as the wonderful ASN.
