Busy Daze...

Jul 01, 2009 23:05

I've been mildly depressed lately, but I've been trying to pull out of it. Doing something about it helps...

But it's amazing, after a 90° day how much my spirits are lifted through the simple reality of a rain fall at night. Cooling the air and the house. The sound of it on the aspens is nearly as amazing as the scent of water in the air.

Stuff I've been doing... )

jetticisms, life, health, art, asthma

How old *is* Jet, anyway? No, I don't mean how long ago was he born, I want to know how old he is. A different thing entirely. :)

Sometimes I really wonder, too.

And I wonder how the heck I got lucky enough to have *him*. When he was a baby he was a very content little guy and when he had no teeth yet, he'd make this old man face, where he'd suck his lips in and just beam at the world.

Now I wonder if that just wasn't how he was to start... goodness...

I am very glad to hear that your health and breathing continue to improve, and it is always neat to hear about you having so much fun with Jet.

(And now I'm remembering playing with lego when younger. Sigh.)

(Did you know there's apparently a Lego MMORPG in the pipeline?)

Thank you...

I hadn't heard about a MMORPG for Lego at all!

Though Jet and his friends and John or I as referees seem to be playing Mechaton a lot, where you build little Lego mechs that have "attachments" that give capabilities. When the attachments are blown off, you lose the capability. Jet's coming up with all kinds of scenarios and additional attachments for the mechs. So he's already into expanding game play. *laughs*

But, yes. Legos. I bought a tiny Lego kit, too. *laughs*

I'm glad to hear that the exercise is helping, and that's good news about the medications. I hope that all works out.

Do thank Jet for me--I'd been wondering why my wireless connection has been dropping so often lately.

On Edit: That "Up" game sounds absolutely delightful. Also, your talk about painting and sketching has me wanting to start up again. It's been ages/

Oh, you should!! It's been very theraputic if I'm just drawing or painting anything I want rather than just the traditional things. I think Anne's inpatiens commission kind of opened a door to me that I could just come up with stuff myself rather than just referencing the paintings my Mom does...

Hee. I'll tell Jet, he'll be very proud to know that. He said that he remembered that at school, but we were pretty amazed that he'd made the connection between what he's learned at school and my wireless problem. *grins* That was cool.

I hope it works out as well, but it may just be something I live with and deal with on an ongoing basis, and that's okay in a way since I now know how to deal with it.

Lego is THE coolest toy ever. I will still play with Lego given the chance. And you know what? Virtually every single architectural type person I've asked in an informal survey has said that it is the bestest toy ever invented.

Good to hear that your breathing is coming along and yes, you should certainly wear some kind of mask for the chalk pastels. You really don't need any particulates in your lungs.

It's funny how controlled people NEED one (sometimes more) outlet where they're out of control. Good that you've more or less discovered what it is for you.

Yeah... I play with Jet's Legos and some of ours, too. Oh, cool to know about that latter bit, as Jet's really wanting to get into architecture, eventually. He seems to persist in that desire, so I'll keep encouraging his spatial capacities and his Dad's been good at keeping up with the social stuff, too.

It's very true... with my conditions I definitely don't need the particulate. *grins*

And very much so for the latter. I've discovered a few in my day, but watercolors are definitely something I can pursue at any time and without... uhm... other safety precautions. *laughs* I really need to go sky diving sometime... *laughs* The local airport has the tandem jump classes on a regular basis...

I think you could make your life easier with a synchronisation tool like Live Mesh; you point it at folders and it copies them onto a Web space (if under 5GB) or onto another PC on your 'mesh' (if the folder is over 5GB - both PCs have to be on for that to happen). that way you get the latest copy of whatever you did on either machine, including new files, and it's a lot less effort.

Mmmm... yeah, that would be useful. I'm halfway there already, now with our big backup disk (on our third machine) as the in-between because I put everything from the desktop onto that... and took what I wanted for the laptop.

Still, yeah, having a synch utility would make this a LOT simpler.

Thank you for the pointer!! I appreciate that a great deal.

welcome! I figure anytime we do by hand what the computer could do automatically we're only asking to forget to do it the time it really matters ;-)
