First Day of School

Aug 18, 2008 23:06

Jet was up at 5:30. He didn't say that it was from excitement at school, but... one wonders.

One of his friends threw up at 5 a.m. so I'm thankful all Jet did was wake up and it wasn't like he's at all anxious.

There were actual crowds at the bus stop this morning. I guess a few kindergarteners were going for their first time and a few other ( Read more... )

It's very nice to get back into that mindset again, I'll have to admit. *grins* The best thing about being a mom is getting vicariously experience all that childhood excitement again, but not have to *do* it all again. *laughs*

Yay for first day of school!

On our first day of school, the bus is always running late, because of all the new parents questioning the bus driver about return times (there are no scheduled return times - the bus gets there when it gets there, so you just get to guess based on the route) and picture taking. :)

Yeah, the picture taking. *laughs*

Especially the one mom that had to get *ON* the bus to take a picture of her darling in her seat. Wow.

That makes a lot of sense. Still haven't been through this enough times, yet, to predict this stuff. *laughs*

Hmmm. I haven't boarded the bus to take pictures of any of my kids yet! Must consider...

...although if I try to pull that stunt with Robert going into 7th grade, he will either murder me or die of embarrassment. So maybe not. :)

We all like Noodles and Co. 'cause it's got a little of all the things folks want to go out for, i.e. some Asian-like, some Italian-like, and some down US stuff.

I really like the strogenoff when I'm in the mood for it, with the braised beef, really rich and creamy. I love the Thai curry soup when I want hot spicy soup with good veg. I really enjoy the Penne Rosa with the Parmesan chicken and a Ceasar salad when I want Italian. I'll get a "regular" mac and cheese when I'm in need of comfort food.

Jet will only eat the buttered noodles. *laughs*

You might have to mount the paintings, too, which is probably the harder part of it all, but I'm sure you'll figure out how. *grins* I only sent the raw paintings, rolled up in a tube. I hope it works out!

*hugs*

Our first day looms... we start Sept. 2nd. Fortunately, it's just a walk down the hill--the walk back up will be harder.

Your first day back sounded pretty good. 2nd grade! Wowza!

Yeah, it still bemuses me that he's already in second grade. *laughs* Wow.

Yeah, that hill of yours is pretty intense.

Sounds like a relaxed 1st day. :D

I'll be sending a 1st grader on the bus this fall so I'll be meeting the bus at school to help her make it to her class. XD

XDD Yeah, we did that when we sent Jet to Kindergarten on the bus, but John hid by the buildings rather than let Jet see him. And Jet made it just fine. So John took a long-distance picture from his hiding place, and that's about all we have of Jet's very first day in public school. *laughs*

But I understand the need to meet them off the bus at the school. *grin*
