We've gotten quite a bit of snow in the past few days. Another six inches last night of the powdery stuff. There's pictures on the TV of folks shoulder deep in powder as they ski down the slopes ( Read more... )

It feels like we should deserve something. I think this gets at the Buddhist idea of precious human birth. We have the emotional capacity, the spiritual capacity to love and it is a precious thing. Not all beings have this. Do mosquitoes love?

Yes.

Or, perhaps, also to the point of the Judeo/Christian idea that God made people in the image of God, in part, all capable of creation and love. No other thing was made that way...
