I think I'm going to have to make a whole series of these entitled "Ways In Which the New Star Trek Movie Reminded Me of the Old Ones."

This is one of my favorite scenes from Star Trek IV. I go around saying "Computer" to my computer nearly as often as I say "Good Morning Dave."

DUDE!! I had a ST pic of the day calendar years ago and cut out the pic from this scene, glued it onto my editing board at work, and made a little speech baloon for scotty talking into his mouse!! I say "Hello, computer" at least twice a week.

Also, Chekov: "Scotty. Now would be a good time!"

I have so much frigging love for both of those scenes. I swear, the way I interact with my computer is the direct product of Scotty being awesome. Also, you should have heard my nerd family and the number of "nuclear wessel" jokes we made in San Francisco.

Unfortunately, the bastards at Paramount (or wherever) TOS'd the clip. It will never cease to amaze me the way that some people don't understand that we're promoting their damn product, not infringing upon it. *rolls eyes*

Dude, look at that antique mini Mac that Scotty was using.

In other news, my mother is trying to back up her computer documents ON FLOPPY DISC. She is bewildered why no one has any floppy discs for her to use.
