So with all the information I've been collecting, I decided to try and do a Robin page that I can keep so I can always refer to it. I want to put a little opinion page on it, so flist, I'm asking you:

What is Robin to you?

Robin, Robin. Someone who serves, sometimes for a short while, and sometimes for his/her entire life, Batman - as an ally, as an assistant, but in the most important way as a friend, or a son. Tenures differ from Robin to Robin, but the will to be part of the Batman's life is always present in one form or another. Suffering for that cause and being better for it.

Wow- I totally misread the question there. Sorry for my last response.

Robin, to me, is- complicated, and I think it depends a lot on which Robin you're talking out. I think he did start very much as the light to Batman's darkness, but at the same time, it's more than that. I've always seen Robin as very much a son to Batman, and also his partner. They're really his- protegees, I suppose. They're also very close to him- they are his sons, but they're also people he can share his life with.

Sorry if I'm not explaining very well- I've got kind of a headache. I'll probably come back and explain better later.

Robin is the connection that Batman needs in order not to go off into the deep end completely. There are times when Batman is close to darkness, to letting it take over, and Robin is that stability, that tangible link to all that is good, that keeps him balanced. Robin is also what keeps Batman from closing off completely. Alfred is there, yes, but with Robin, there is the need to teach, to give guidance and his own experience and that keeps him open and in touch with the human side of himself, and not just the Bat.
