long-lost people

Lots of weird things occur to me when i'm particularly tired, and a recurring one is people who I have lost any hope of contact with through simple accidents of time, circumstance, whatever, and who I was close to and sincerely cared about. I see some similarities in your post to the way I feel about people from my past. I feel like I very rarely forget anyone - instead, I just keep their email or screen name or phone number sitting around, thinking maybe some day I will have a reason to get back in touch. In truth, I'm rather selective about the people I choose to let into my world, so maybe that's why I'm so reluctant to let go. And even though we don't talk much (except on LJ, I guess), you are one of those people that I've never forgotten about and that I continue to think about from time to time when I see an old photo from high school or read a particularly poignant piece of literature. Shame on me for falling victim to time and not keeping up our correspondence... At least thanks to internet communities, it's almost never too late.
