The world would be so much better if people were to actually speak. And if they were to speak than maybe have the good decency to say why they say what they say. Maybe if they spoke so well a person would already know what they mean. Oh but there would be mistakes any way. They-they just happen. Sometimes you don't see them. And that makes them

[And he ruined it. Another sigh.]

[It's practically like cursing. Edmund looks at her, shocked. He doesn't want her to say anything Susan'll regret.]

[Stirs the cup. It's cool enough now there's no need. Other than to just busy her hands.]
I won't pretend to know why though... Ed, it's just not fair.

[Ed starts. It's a poor attempt. He frowns, tries to be careful of his wording, lest his words be taken the wrong way.]
There are just things that we can't even begin to figure. It isn't fair.
[Yes. He agrees with it wholeheartedly. Susan doesn't deserve to have her heartbroken. It isn't fair. But it also isn't fair for Caspian, either. To be deprived of the one he loves. Neither of them deserve.]
But didn't we learn that if some things aren't meant to be, we just have to believe? That it'll all work out somehow?

She's always been there. One of the first along with Lucy and Peter to forgive and forget his mistake; his betrayal. He'll hang in there and be her lifeline for as long as Susan wants.
He squeezes her hand as they pull apart, almost leans in to press a kiss to her temple, gentle, reassuring - but stops.
This is really embarrassing as is.]
Go rest, Su.
[He gives her a look that says, if you don't. I'll eat my way into the fridge tomorrow.]

Goodnight, Ed.

The third Pevensie leans in, clumsily bumps lips against his sister's cheek.]
Goodnight, Su.
[He gives her a smile as he turns away, giving her hand a final squeeze. It's not much, but Edmund hopes it helps.]
