Soundtrack Hopes?

Aug 23, 2011 22:40

Personally, the movie soundtracks have been my favorite parts of the Twilight films. If I had to pick, the soundtrack to New Moon had my heart and musical soul. But for Breaking Dawn? I have so many ideas. I like older music. The 'Oldies' crowd, if you will. Give me music from the 40s and 50s. Let me play Elvis with Linkin Park in the same playlist ( Read more... )

etc: twilight music

I agree New Moon soundtrack was by far my favorite.
I don't know what this new soundtrack will bring, I'm sure it will be just as amazing as the first 3, but I'm not sure what I think "The" song will be or who I think "The" artist will be.
All that I'm thinking right now are just artists who would be interesting to see on the soundtrack.
Like I think it would be awesome if Baths was on the soundtrack

I need to think of more, way too much music in my library to scour through lol.

Of course having Bon Iver do any new songs would be amazing.

The Middle East would be a perfect fit, though I don't know if they would do a song, considering they just broke up. If anyone saw Crazy, Stupid, Love the last song in the movie was by The Middle East. But this song here is The Darkest Side, the one in the movie was Blood

lol, Love the My Chem on your playlist.

I like the old school stuff too- September is one of my very favorite tunes.

I've heard some push for Arcade Fire on the soundtrack, that would be cool.

I have a pretty long 'Twilight' playlist. "Beautiful Love" by The Afters, "Beautiful Ending" by Barlow Girl, "Unbreakable" by Fireflight, and "Forever" by Breaking Benjamin among others.

My longshot pick would be Sleep Isabella by Abney Park:

Or a tune by my favorite band, Future of Forestry:

I don't know AF too well, but I like what I hear. :-) Maybe they could do something new for the soundtrack?

Thank you. Future of Forestry is a tiny band from Southern California. I pimp them as often as possible, lol. Glad you liked the tune.

I love your icon, and Arcade Fire!!
I saw them live too it was life changing :)

But for some reason I can't see Arcade Fire on the soundtrack, but it'll always be nice to have new music from them.

I'm of a weird opinion, I don't want artists I love to be on the soundtracks. I've liked the soundtracks, especially the 1st and 2nd. But, since the move to original songs, I can't help but think some of my favorite artists shouldn't be pandering to the Twilight series. I find it hard to believe that the men of The Bravery read Twilight and care about the project, so the alternative is that they did it for the money ( ... )

Yea I totally get what you are saying, I was on this indie music LJ and everyone was pretty much trashing the bands for doing this soundtrack, but on the other hand they were saying how amazing the soundtrack was.
I'm kind of wary but not wary enough haha
But it does make me curious as to why the agree lol

I think it all comes down to money.

I'm not sure about that. I mean I don't know everything about the artists, but really I mean Thom Yorke. I really don't think he would do it for money. What with Radiohead pulling away from their former label and releasing In Rainbows online and basically giving the album out for free.
But then again its just me wanting it to not be about money for the artist lol. But that is the most realistic option.

OK so I compiled a list. It's not specific songs by artists, because all the songs on the soundtrack end up being original, so I picked artists that I thought fit the tone and sound of the series and the previous soundtracks. But that would also be able to push the limits of that same sound the last 3 soundtracks have created. Hope that made sense. (Youtube songs, just examples of their style)
1. Everything Everything

2. Minus The Bear

3. Superhumanoids

4. Galapaghost

5. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.

6. Warpaint

7. Phantogram

8. Portugal. The Man

9. Basia Bulat

10. Givers

11. Timber Timbre

12. Atlas Sound

13. Fleet Foxes

Bloodstream would be perfect for the "first time" scene. Totally sexy and deep, and really just speaks love to me. Perfect. You hit the nail directly on the head for me :)
