I wonder if any business' have felt anything negative from the smoking ban yet?
In an attempt to revitalize downtown with business and money spending customers, you would think not letting them run their business how they want to would be enough to make them not renew their lease.

I can tell you that in other states and cities (and indeed countries) a lot of bars, etc. have closed.

I've got mixed feeling about these. Initially, I'm all for limiting smoking but I've seen sidewalks in Chicago become "ashwalks" Not just outside of bars, but stores, colleges and even churchs. Filters DO NOT break down as paper does or can. Theres as much filth on the ground as there was inside.
And now, despite a state wide law stating smoking outside MUST be beyond 15 feet of the main door of any building where smoking is banned, people still hang right by the door forcing everyone to walk through a cloud of smoker spootz. Enforcement? I've heard that the City of Chicago has fined two places. So it's pretty much non existent.

Yeah, Illinois and Ohio laws are making millions of smokers break another law- littering. The ban on ashtrays at (at least) the entrances to any building isn't helping. What brainiacs, eh?

It's all just so stupid. Ohio voters voted. Thanks assholes.
Illinois voters didn't have a choice. Nonetheless, the whining anti-smokers will be pissing and moaning about having to walk through clouds of smoke- outdoors. What next?
