Christmas presents and thoughts

Dec 10, 2008 17:26

Christmas for me is always a special time. It holds a lot of significance for me, and I adore it. I know there are many people out there who would prefer to see the back of Christmas as soon as the word is mentioned, but I adore it. For lots of reasons.

Why I love Christmas )

love, joy, presents, christmas, family

I love the fact your family call you for both your birthday and for Christmas separately :)

It's two separate gifts because we know what's good for us. :P

For me, it's all about those peopel in my life who are integral to me and who make a difference to me and me being able to tell them how much I appreciate and love them! :)

I'm actually really looking forward to this christmas, and the chance to share with special people outside of my direct/immediate family which is all it has been for most years

Wow I've never really experienced much like this with Christmas, it's always the most tortuous time of year for me. Seeing family members who stood by while abuse was happening, and don't care about me now; and watching them get so drunk that they inevitably do loud, obnoxious karaoke followed by much vomiting outside my bedroom window and then swearing; and avoiding other family members who actually *did* abuse me, and then the flashbacks. Ugh.

So I read posts like this, and it's so so so alien to me. It's like what I see in those kid christmas movies that are too good to be true. A family that cares, a feeling of warmth and fuzziness. It's so awesome that you get this and endeavour to share it around with other people. It is folks like yourself who actually make this a worthwhile holiday for others. Without people like you, Christmas would just be... well Christmas would be exactly like it's going to be at home for me this year.

Do you have any family Boxing Day rituals that you do as well?

Chicken, if you need soemwhere to go and you don't want to be at home, you are more than welcome here. My house is always open to people if they want somewhere to go where there is care.

*hugs you* We will be doing dinner and I will be doing the food. if that doesn't scare you, by all means feel free to turn up :)

Reading this post a chiritmas like that seems pretty alien to me as well .

Affection is alien thing to my family and argueing and yelling and guilt trips are served up with christmas lunch .

*hugs*
