I'm sorry Friday night sucked. I wish I could've seen you, we were washing walls and getting blisters. I have finally realised why you and Michael don't bother with painting. No one in their right mind would paint a house. *smiles*
I LOVE little craft shops too, if you know any good ones, maybe we could go together one day? I won't be able to afford much in the near future, but I love looking around and encouraging other people to buy things. *makes innocent doe eyes*
I am loving Collins Craft in Balcatta for an all over good craft store - has everything in there including supplies for kiddie craft which means you can buy bulk of lots of things... The thought of bulk glitter... *squee*
*grins* I went to soemone else's house yesterday wherre the walls hadn't been painted wither and they'd been in their house for seven years. I felt there was hope for me yet :)
Loves you hon. This week is going to be absolutely nuts in terms of getting everything prepped for Swancon, but I am off afterwards and so would love to see you.
The milk and honey thing? Is one of those odd cultural references which is way older than people think. Back in Sumerian days it was a reference to sexual fluids - semen and vaginal juices, respectively, I think. Turns up in a lot of their love poetry and epics. In the process of classical translations and recordings (including the whole Biblical process) it's ended up being translated literally as milk and honey, presumably initially because people knew what it meant so chose to keep the pretty metaphor, and then eventually people just forgot that it had ever meant anything else. Or kept the knowledge quiet as "educated" people so that the commons didn't start asking questions about what "the land of milk and honey" was really all about then :-)
I loved the fabric store that was (may still be) on the corner of Shepparton Rd / Welshpool Rd / Albany Hwy. It was an Indian family business and had a lot of fabrics / beads / buttons / decorations etc that were not the standard western range. Don't know that it had a lot of craft stuff, it focused more on women who needed to sew clothes (and saris, and other exotic fabric items) for their families. But it'd be worth checking out to see what they have decorative-wise.
