Desiderata ... and what I take from it

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Thank you for posting this.

I am a perennial romantic too and this is hard sometimes. I love how wonderful you are.

Agreed, being a perennial romantic (I like this way of saying it so much better than 'hopeless') does bring with it plenty of opportunity for hurt and disappointment. I believe this is why we identify with Damon so much, as we see a kindred spirit in that way.

You are a truly lovely human being, Val <3

Thank you for sharing this poem, I hadn't read it/heard it before! :) It's truly beautiful.

I've always struggled with extremes myself and middle ground is hard for me to even recognize.

I believe love is as perennial as grass and can survive in the most arid of conditions. What a beautiful line. :) And I think a lot of people struggle with believing that someone could love them as much as they love the other person.

I'm glad you're learning to be easier on yourself, because you're such a good person. :)

I am striving to be happy by choosing to be.
Awww *hugs*

It pleases me to have introduced you to it.

You and I really are quite similar, dear. It takes one (good person) to know one, after all.
