More thoughts: The Salvatore Brothers and Elena

Apr 01, 2012 16:50

After reading my f-list's posts and re-watching The Murder of One several times, I am back with more thoughts about the Salvatore brothers and Elena.

While I enjoyed seeing Stefan and Damon working together (with Ric and power tools, as well :), overall I was left saddened by the idea that the reciprocity of the level of brotherly love seemed to ( Read more... )

I'm currently out of town--so i'm grabbing a few minutes here to say that this:
I understand that it showed Damon's desires, but really, we ALL know he's still in love with her.
I so agree and feel this EXCRUCIATINGLY. I'm sick of seeing how much Damon loves Elena, I need to see more of Elena loving Damon or I'm going to go CRAZY. Honestly.

I'll be back to talk more soon...!

Good grief, there I go again with my Damon-colored glasses on with blinders attached - ;)

It actually makes much more sense that the show is setting things in motion with a reference to their feelings. (It was my obsessed fangirl side that wants things to be happening NOW, not having a bone thrown this way).

I didn't mean to suggest that Stefan didn't care, just that it felt that the depth of it wasn't equal to Damon's for him. Which, come to think of it, is how it should be for where Stefan is at as a character. DUH.

*hides in a corner* ... for being an overly dramatic fangirl. I just have to stop presuming the worst, and thinking that my heart's going to get ripped out. This show has done nothing to warrant that reaction from me. There will be Elena exploring her feelings. I believe that.

Thank you for being voice of reason, again, dear and bringing back my sane, enjoyable fangirl persona.

I am really into this, although usually I'm a little more laid back about it ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed perusing our reactions. I think Elijah would be better suited to Katerina, but agree that Elena should not end up with Stefan. One never knows with this show, though ;)

No worries for your bluntness, I prefer people speak their mind instead of beating around the bushes.

Well done for doing this on your phone, I generally make tons of typos when I do that. Thanks for joining in the discussion :D

overall I was left saddened by the idea that the reciprocity of the level of brotherly love seemed to be missing in this episode. Sure Stefan went to rescue Damon eventually, but it wasn't until he witnessed Damon's condition first hand that he had a visceral reaction.

Hmm, I actually thought Stefan's original plan was really smart? By taking out Finn, they would be killing Rebekah and Klaus by proxy = saving Damon!! Which certainly seemed like a much more feasible and rational plan than rushing into Klaus's mansion with Elena. And after that failed, THEN Stefan went in all lone ranger like to save his brother and threaten Klaus a lot.

On the other hand, he didn't really express it like that so I dunno.

The triangle is stretched so thin right now, I feel like we haven't learned anything new in about 10 episodes. Sigh.

You have a point that Stefan's plan was smart, I just wanted him to show more direct concern for Damon's predicament. Overall, it just felt like Damon had no-one making him the priority and I thought that should have fallen to Stefan.

I feel like the triangle is back to being unbalanced with more weight (in terms of screen time and advancement of their storyline) being given to the SE side.

he reciprocity of the level of brotherly love seemed to be missing in this episode.
It was not just this. It was every good feeling that seemes to be missed.

I do think Stefan didn't perceive Damon's life in danger..I guess he was thinking rebekah was going to torture him but not killing him. Klaus needed him as a bait and Stefan did know this. I guess that's why he looked distant..it was like he knew Damon was not going to die.

I do think there is not just a moment when Stefan realized that Elena had feelings for Damon. it was slowly building uo in his mind that Elena had Damon under her skin.

You already know how I feel about the lack of interaction after Damon's rescuing...I would have loved to see it even with Stefan btw

Good point about Stefan not perceiving Damon's life as being directly in jeopardy, which makes his reactions sit easier with me. When he did see the condition Damon was in, it was clear that he was very much upset.

That makes sense. Having it build slowly then combined with Elena wanting to stop everything to save Damon would certainly have added up in Stefan's mind.

Me, too. It seems I may have been making too much of Damon's torturing. Perhaps the level of the characters reactions was meant to show that that occurrence wasn't all that important in the overall scheme of things?

re:Stefan
Exactly. He immediately felt that his brother was in bad shape and was hurt by it.

I guess it's like that.
